Default Small tear in top - how to fix

I just noticed a small tear in the top today. It's located vertical to the bars and right in between them on the right side. About 1/2" long. Not a usual wear spot, I don't think. I've looked at a number of threads on here and getting various ideas about how to repair. Stitching and patching. I'm looking for a consensus on what to do from y'all. What do you think?

I've got the same half inch tear that I found a few days ago too...in the same spot I think. Just hanging out here to see what's said.

This is an infamous wear spot caused by several factors including loss of elasticity of the straps that assist retracting the roof and a burred edge in the metal frame work. If your roof only seems to retract 95% the assist elastic is shot.

Either use the search function or wait until someone posts a link to the trouble spot (I've forgotten where it is or I'd link it). My roof was getting worn in this spot over the right seat shoulder (US passenger) and I patched it inside before it wore thru. Sanding the rough burrs off the roof mechanism is easy but easily overlooked.

Repairing the roof itself is, surprisingly, found with the search function too.

^ I did look at various threads about fixing it, with the pros and cons of different methods. I just want to see what experience my forum members have had, if any.

Top tears are one of Honda’s S2000 legacies. On a few production years the Honda designers left an abrasive burr on one of the soft top hoop angles that cut through the fabric. You can repair the tear, patch the top, and remove the burr. If it’s small enough it can be made less noticeable but it will always be there until you replace the top.

Your Honda dealer should have known about the problem and corrected it before it occurred.

By now, without a doubt, you’re out of warranty.

Thanks, Emil. I saw that one. I'm considering the Gorilla tape.

My top was professionally patched when I bought the car. There was an inside patch and a rubber-like substance on the actual tear outside. I've since had to renew the outside seal. I used Permatex Ultra Black silicone. I applied it with my finger and it resealed the outside tear. It matched the original seal exactly.

I used black Shoe Goo on my 2005 S2000 top tear. A little on the inside and a little on the outside.
