I saw lots of them in Germany a couple of months ago. I saw carlots with a dozen new ones on it. Interesting tidbit is that the engine is on a skid, and in an accident the engine is pushed beneath the car, rather than into the compartment. I also saw several cars that very size that had been in accidents. Not a pretty sight.

Funny thing is, pictures make it look bigger than it is in real life.

Mind you I'd love to play with one for a weekend.
The entry price point looks good but you get to 20K+ pretty quickly.

I see several of them around the city here and when I first read about them, I wanted one of them to replace my SUV. I no longer feel that way. They are wayyyyy too small for my needs and not as cute as I first thought.

A recent article I read - can't remember where, but I think it was Autoweek looked at using a VW Jetta TDI as an alternative to a Smart car. They both get the same fuel mileage, but the Jetta had room for 5 and a real trunk.

According to my German brother-in-law, at 70-80 mph, the car gets a bit buzzy, gas milage dwindles, and you feel like a hood ornament going the road.

I passed one in my big merc and he seemed to do just fine.
he was probably doing 70 and I was ...well.. not doing 70
let's leave it at there was an adequate speed differential.
