Planning to go look at some rural riverfront property out in the country about 50 miles from here. We're casually considering buying a vacation property for weekend use.

WOOHOO WEEKEND CORNER!!

We leave Friday morning, June 17th, for Trinity Lake in northern California, for 9 days of "camping" in our motorhome and boating.

Really "roughing" it aren't you Patty?

On Saturday, I think it's time for a trip to the zoo with my granddaughter.

We are taking our "S" to a drive in movie with some of the New England crowd on Saturday evening. That should be fun.

Sunday we may just hang around at home unless it's nice driving weather.

Lainey,

It is pretty lame to call it camping. Water, electrical and sewer hook-ups. My most favorite camping is when we really do rough it. We used to go to Lake Havasu and beach camp. One launches the boat with all the provisions for food and camping and finds a beach on the Arizona side and lives there for a week. At night, the water laps on the beach to put one to sleep. Sometimes the wild burros bray or a skunk visits. We did it every year until maybe 5 years ago. It's still my favorite camping though. As the kids got older they didn't want to be pulled out of school for a week and get behind so we quit doing it. I think Andy and I may do it again when they are both in college.

Bless you, Patty!

Roughing it, or any kind of camping, even in an RV is at the bottom of how to spend our free time.

Our idea of roughing it is no room service Not that we use room service much, but it's nice to know it's there.

Three of my sisters have RV's or campers with all the comforts. Sometimes we visit the camp site, then stay in a hotel! Although the places you have posted pictures of seem to have plenty of "elbow room." A few of the places we have visited seem to have the campers crowded in like sardines in a can.

I'm with you, Lainey. Roughing it is having to reach over and dial up for room service.

Lainey and Valentine, ladies...

You know what you get in hotels? Noisy neighbors and slamming bedroom doors. At least we seem to. We just had three different hotels in 3 nights and only liked one. The most expensive one was by far the worst.

I hate camping with noisy neighbors too. We only go where the neighbors aren't too close. At the beach they are close but the sound of the ocean waves muffles everything.

Never had any probs with noise in hotels (except when I travel with the Vintage bunch ). One of the wonderful things about life is the different tastes we all have!! It makes us more interesting. I think your escapades (Patty) sound delightful and I admire your spunk and delight you take in finding isolated places.

That is true, Patty.

If I think to ask, I ask for something away from elevators and ice machines.

Did you see the segment on the news shows about what else you can get in hotels?

Remember that expression: "Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite."

Apparently, there is a big problem in the hotel industry with those critters. I can't even think about it, or I'd never sleep in a hotel again.
