Default Sons or Daughters Overseas

After reading posts from Spokes Man and Valentine I realized that at least two of our Vintage members have sons or daughters fighting in Iraq. I would like to see how many other members have loved ones overseas, and to ask you to post names and addresses of these heroic soldiers. I personally would love to send cards of thanks to these kids and let them know we

Can we expand this to include the kids of friends? My coworker has a son in Iraq and we are so relieved when we hear from him since he's on the front line. Not too sure about having his address out there, however. Nice thought, though.

Nice thought, Maury.

If folks PM you the addresses of their loved ones, that would most likely be better than having them posted here.

Does that work for you?

That would be fine, I will be more than happy if people PM addresses of family or friends overseas and I can forward to any Vintage member that might be interested.

Maury, that's a very nice idea and thank you

I will PM my son's Afghanistan address info. to you tomorrow since it is at home and I'm at work now. There is a particular format that needs to be used for both the soldier's address as well as the return address.

Thanks again for doing this!

I did thirteen months back in the early eighties, in the persian gulf. I can tell you nothing means more to our men and women over there than "mail call." News from home makes you not feel so isolated from the rest of the world.
Check this link out and if any of your sons, daughters or friends have access to email, forward this to them.

Leahy, I watch that video often and I cry every time. Our son is always taken aback when folks thank him for what he's doing, yet I know it makes him feel good. Unless you have a child who has chosen this type of career, it is hard to describe the emotions or to explain why every morning, you check the computer to see how many sons/daughters will not be coming home and how it breaks your heart for someone's mother whose child is not coming home again. Yet, I take comfort in knowing this is what he's chosen and it means a great deal to him to serve the government of the United States of America in the United States Army. He knows we love him and that we are proud of who he is and what he does. It killed me when I saw the tears in his dad's eyes when our son was leaving and he told him stay safe, son. I couldn't cry.

Lainey, sometimes I get too emotional and perhaps share a little tmi. Thanks for sharing your sentiments, though. I do love this kid soooooooooo much that I'm afraid my heart will just
