My valueless comments incorporated in bold.
I agree that loss of license is an end of life event. I bought my gun while I still have my license. After, I won't have any way to get to the gun store.
So, now that we've had our various submissions of alternate life stories (all of which were very entertaining and I enjoyed a great deal), I suppose I should give a quick condensed version of my life story.
Born and raised in NJ. This explains everything.
Youngest of nine - 4 sisters, 4 brothers. No, wait, this explains everything
Always loved cars. See. You have redeeming qualities
Learned to drive stick. Of course
Went to college in Georgia. I did not see that coming. West Virginia yes. Georgia, no
Studied journalism. No, wait...this explains everything
Met a guy who lived in CA (the OC). You and the rest of the world
Moved to CA. Of course
Went to lots of car races. A commendable use of time
Learned a lot. Insert your joke here.....
Got married. It happens to the best of us
Had fun. Be thankful for that
Stopped having fun. Of course
Got divorced. It happens
Had fun again. Glad to hear
Took night classes and studied for a different career. Me too
Learned a lot. Ahh. Now you are taking education seriously
Moved to West LA for a tech support job. OC to LA. So close on a map, but a world away
Learned a lot. Nice when that happens
Switched jobs. Who'd you switch with?
Learned some more. I'm sensing a trend
Got married again. Uh-oh, another trend
Became a consultant. Marriage?
Had fun. I'm so happy for....
Stopped having fun. ...oh well
Got divorced. yeah, another trend
Took a bit longer to resume having fun. Takes us longer to bounce back
Learned a lot. I can imagine
Had fun again. That's the trend that counts
Bought a Lotus. Immediately stopped having fun. (lol! just kidding)Are you?
That's pretty much all of it. For me, life really started when I got my license. I had saved for and bought my first car even before I had my license. Every car I've owned since age 20 has been a stick. I've been driving convertibles since I was 22. I've attended something like 5 performance driving schools over the years and, despite all of that education, I still have managed to fail to live up to my potential.
The day I'm told I can no longer drive is the day I shall probably put a bullet through my brain. Well, okay, maybe not the same day. I understand there is a waiting period for purchasing fire arms. At present, I'm in a relationship, but have no interest in remarrying. It's important to know one's limitations, you know.
Best quotes that describe me (imho):
You are the most dependent independent person I know.
You know, Roseanne, one might say you do not suffer fools well.
All I ever want is a little bit more than I'll ever have.
You can be the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful person on earth... right up until you get mad. And then you are a force to be reckoned with and are downright scary.
Never underestimate your ability to be memorable.

My only advice, when it comes to a partner for life, and I believe it heart and soul - Don't settle for anyone less than the best you've ever known and experienced. When it comes to work - Don't think you are irreplaceable but always try to be! When it comes to life - Enjoy it every day if you can, it passes way too quick. As for cars, hell, yes, drive a stick shift and rag top and be part of the connection - earth, machine, life, living.
Thanks for sharing. You can ignore my advice; most do.
