After going through the Brainstorming thread, I've come up with the following possible locations and dates for this event. Please give me a FIRST and SECOND choice for both location and dates.

Western NC (Blowing Rock)
Myrtle Beach SC

5/12-14/06
5/19-21/06
6/2-4/06

1 - Lime Rock CT
2 - Upstate NY -or- Finger Lakes Region (either/or)
3 - Williamsburg VA

1 - June 2-4, 2006

The location prefs are purely personal. I think the greatest consideration has to be given to the number of 'troops' who can support the event..... i.e., plan the drive. If there isn't anyone who can (from a practical standpoint) do that in Lime Rock, than that should remove it from the list.

^ I agree...we will determine the possible places to stay/drive routes/who can organize when we get the top two choices. Those are some of the factors that will determine the winner.

 

Of course my first choice would be the Charlottesville/Lynchburg VA area and I would be able to help organize (after the first of the year since I will be out of pocket for most of the rest of this year).

2nd choice is Myrtle Beach.
Dates: #1: 5/19-21 and #2 June 9-11

Chris and I will try hard to make it where ever it happens. It is just that CT is a bit farther from the Guld of Mexico than the other locations.

 

Here is my list

1. Western Pa - any of the dates but later is better purely from a weather stand point. I would gladly work with Y'all on plans in "my back yard" (my back yard is 7000 sq miles of north western/central PA.)

2. Mrytle Beach - any date - purely nostalgic - my first experience with a roadster was as a kid visiting my grandfater at Mrytle Beach.

3. NY State - as late in date as practical because of weather. My assistance in planning in this area would be limited.

My first choice is simply because I live there. If I was planning a road trip just for me, it would likely between Maryland and South Carolina particularly in the Spring, the temps are just right and the scenery is beautiful!

I will go anywhere! - Anytime!

My preferences:

Lime Rock, CT (because it's not PA, and it's the closest )

Upstate NY (beautiful area, beautiful roads)

Cape May, NJ (never been there, heard it's lovely)


Any of those dates work for us as of now. If SF ends up to the north, a later date may be a good thing. If it's Cape May, the 05/19-21 date may be best as after Memorial Day I think the crowds increase in those areas on weekends, as with Cape Cod here in MA.

Also again, we understand if our preferences do not fly if there is no one available in the area to plan a route, check out hotels, etc.

When one refers to Lime Rock CT. are you referring to this?

Are you referring to the town or the legendary race track? I have the same question regarding Watkins Glen?

Close to the track at Lime Rock there is the Interlaken Inn

I stayed there the first time that I attended the Skip Barber School back in the 90's. They may be able to accommodate all of us.

Again when one refers to Watkins Glen, NY are we talking about the town not that track?

In either case. I know that most Vintage members are NOT interested in "track time", but as a PR gesture is it possible to arrange to do a slow parade lap around these legendary tracks? That would be cool.

If that is the case, those venues would get my vote. But I need more information before voting. Without it, I my preliminary vote goes to Watkins Glen. (But, that is NOT my official vote. Yet)
