Default October 4-6 2019 Meet-Up - Bar Harbor??

I was looking into taking 2 weeks off next summer, to drive East (not, West like this year) to one of my favorite spots on the planet.... Bar Harbor, Maine, with Acadia National Park just around the corner.

Personal need to go back to Cool As A Moose and find some Jordanberry pancakes.

I know S2KDays will be in Gettysburg in Autumn, plus Spring Fling (where is it, again, Ken??) in May, but I didn't see anything normally going on during Summer.

Sure, vacations abound, but why not enjoy the cool temps in Maine??

Thoughts include a day trip to Nova Scotia (need passport in hand). Not sure what the roads are like up there, or in Maine.

What do you all think??

That area (Maine/Bar Harbor/Acadia) is one of our favorites spots, we are heading there in September. It's a mecca four tourists in the summer. I think you'd be hard pressed to find decent/affordable accommodations for a group, but I could be wrong. We've done the Nova Scotia area a couple of times, by land, not sea/ferry. We went all the way up the Cabot Trail for our 25th anniversary 9 years ago. Beautiful area, not congested like Bar Harbor, at least it wasn't back in 2009.

Last time I was there was early October, 2003. I know Bar Harbor is a tourist trap, but the timing between Spring Fling and Gettysburg makes it the best time to travel from the Midwest.

I get that...timing is everything. We generally only participate in the one meet/year, Spring Fling. Remaining vacation time/budget we try to make our plans for a time when most of the tourists have gone home.

We have done the Maine thing as well as Nova Scotia in the S and the trick seems to be not to stay in places like BAA HAA BAA( as the locals call it) For example we made Bar Harbor a day trip. It is a bit of a drive to Nova Scotia so we made it two separate trips over two years.
