It doesn't get any better than that game. Some of the most amazing 3rd downs I have ever seen. What a defensive effort. They deserved to win.

No, but it's only 15 minutes by subway. You never know when a win like this will ever come again, an extended lunch hour to savor this historic moment.

The only time I would root for the Giants is when they play the Pats. Otherwise I will go with the other team.

 

Haven't heard much about coverage; how's the local press treating the Pats?
The ankle, the offensive line, spygate? What's Belichek saying? What's the general tenor of why they lost? The NY press is ridiculous when it comes to making back page headlines, if the situation were reversed, all of the above would've been exaggerated exponentially.

 

All I've seen is the coach getting grief for walking off the field before the game was over. And Giselle getting grief for being the Pat's jinx.

 

Awsome game. The escape/throw/catch. The drive. Three quarters of nail-biting defensive struggle was like watching a great pitching dual. Then a quarter of offensive thrills.

I agree generally with dig (having also watched every Superbowl) there have been a lot of stinkers over the years. But we have been pretty lucky lately:
XXXIX Feb. 6, 2005 New England 24, Philadelphia 21...TO having a career night in a losing effort while defying doctors orders by playing on his injured ankle containing 2 screws and a metal plate.
XXXVIII Feb. 1, 2004 New England 32, Carolina 29...Brady and Delome battle it out like two gunslingers.
XXXVI Feb. 3, 2002 New England 20, St. Louis 17...New England upsets heavily favored St. Louis, the "Greatest Show on Turf".
XXXIV Jan. 30, 2000 St. Louis 23, Tennessee 16...Tennessee's version of "The Drive" falls a yard short on the final play of the game. Has there ever been a more dramatic finish to a Super Bowl?

Toss in Superbowl XLII and you have five great games so far in this decade. Not too bad compared to the 90s when there were only two decent games, Buffalo's loss to the Giants on Wide Right and Denver over Green Bay when Elway finally got a ring in a close game.

Thinking about yesterday, if Brady gets his second to last pass attempt one yard further down field, Moss probably maintains separation, makes the catch and scores. One yard...the difference between being a really good qb and being mentioned in the same breath as Star, Bradshaw, and Montana. I wonder if Tom will get another chance.

I think the escape/the catch will be a play we talk about for years to come.

Hardly anybody remembers the losing team in most superbowls (well, unless the losing team was the Buffalo Bills) but they will remember the Pats whose dreams of perfection were so violently destroyed by the Giants defensive front.

Eli's passer rating in the first half was 39.8, partly due to an interception that was not his fault. His second half rating was over 140!

You gotta feel good for Archie Manning. Maybe the football gods were paying him back those years he was a pro-bowl qb stuck on dreadful Saints teams. Imagine having each of your sons win consecutive superbowls. The Mannings are a great family. Good to see the good guys rise to the top now and then.

Oh, yeah, in other news, Tiger Woods wins the Dubai Desert Classic, his fourth straight tournament win and and six of his last seven dating to the Bridgestone Invitational in early August. Woods also won his unofficial Target World Challenge by seven shots in December

Most pros have their best years in their thirties. Looks like Woods, who turned 33 in December, has finally hit his stride. He may win a few more before he goes over to the Seniors.

 

Yes, now that you mentioned it, what's the 'defense' for walking off and leaving the Team; that he thought the clock ran down? Or did he not want to stay on the field another moment for the Giant's celebration? Other?

 

That may have been the best ever SB. Billy was outcoached. I really expected better O-Line adjustments by him in the second half. Because of the two long drives in the first quarter, the game was even over at a reasonable time for the Esat Coast.
