Granny, do you still have your stock 16" rims? If you have upgraded to 17s then going back to 16s with a taller side wall can help, not so much over humps but over smaller road imperfection and pot holes. Also you might investigate tire choices next time you are ready for a new set. Something with a more compliant sidewall might help the ride. But you will pay a small price in handling crispness. Might not be enough to matter though.
AP2s have softer spring rates in the rear iirc. The purpose was to reduce oversteer but a side effect might be a slightly softer ride.
Do you get much rattle when you hit bumps? Its amazing how much sound can influence your perception of ride comfort. Tires that thump loudly on bumps and potholes will also make the ride seem more harsh.
Good advice about checking the shocks...especially if the ride is sort of bouncy over bumps. You can do a quick check yourself. Just push down on each corner of the car. When you release the car should bounce back...maybe a little beyond normal ride height, then return to its normal position with no further bouncing or movement of any kind. (But I bet you already knew that one.)
Miatas have a more relaxed ride and still maintain good handling. But the drivers aren't as nice as this bunch.

Maybe it would be a good idea to check for the shipping blocks in the springs. My car had 58,000 miles on it when I bought it and it still had the shipping blocks in the springs! Amazing how the handling changed when we took them out.
What? You mean there could still be something up there that got overlooked? Awww man!
Thanks for sharing that one, Pant, as you can see, I never heard the end of my spacers being left in.
I'll check this out. I assume you can see then if you get up under the car. There goes the ol' back!
Oh Reeeeeedz?

Hey Mr. Toffey, I still have my stock 16" rims. I've forgotten what tires I have on there but I remember reading that they were softer and sticky. I've noticed more squeaks than anything since she's been outside. She's fine on smooth roads but everytime I check the tires after she's been sitting a while, the pressure is up. Could that make for a harsher ride if I don't check them before every single ride? I just recently went over some "wake up" strips in the road and thought the bottom was falling out along with my chattering teeth.
And nope, I hadn't heard of the bounce test. I'll try that when I get home. What would I do without you guys?

Here is a link to a thread with some pictures of the springs with all of the shipping blocks still in.

I found mine when I installed the KONI shocks. There were two rows of blocks on the inboard side of the springs. Apparently the dealer removed what he could without taking the strut out. That left two rows on the back side that he couldn't reach.

I didn't hear about your spacers. Are you referring to a bunch of rubber blocks that are between the coils in the springs? Those are the shipping blocks that I was referring to.
PS: I just read the linked thread and now I'm trying to remember how many Reedz pulled out now. I don't think there were 16 so now I've got to get back under there and really check now.
Wonder what I did with them?
Such a deal I have for you! I will swap you a nice cushy ride for your S2000. You would get my wife's Grand Marquis (AKA Big Brown Turd). It is like sitting on your living room couch and you feel just about as much when you are riding as you would on that couch.
Deal?

Yep, that's what I'm referring to. They were found because I was parked besides Matt and he and someone else noticed my car was sitting higher than his. Reedz got out his trusty jack, pumped about 3 times and removed them all around. Needless to say I was upset but did notice the softer ride. Some things never cease to amaze me.

The dealers used to pull out "most" of them. They'er probably all out, but worth the check. I would look to see if you see "oil" on the struts while you're looking for the blocks. I've broken my share of struts over the years.
POTHOLES

Me driving crazy
Hope it's not bad.
