It does, thanks...I thought the tablet coming out next year is a Microsoft tablet with Windows 8. I need to look at that further. Anyhoo, lots to think about.

RIM's playbook is in the tank. The company has written off the playbook (1 billion dollars) and will try and get what they can get for a price. I suspect RIM will be out the tablet business if out of business period.

And so is the problem with technology, one day you are the latest and greatest, next day you are the late.

RIMs problem isn't that the technology changed, its that they fell asleep and didn't keep up with the changes. Unfortunately this happens to a great many companies, but it doesn't have to happen.

Companies like Apple and IBM keep reinventing themselves to keep up with the changes. Microsoft and Sony, and perhaps Honda have fallen asleep.

Change is a constant, whether or not a company can keep up with it is the variable.

Update - If I get a tablet, it will be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I want a 10". Just did a review of tablets suitable for my needs and this one came out on top (for Android - very competitive with the iPad). Toptenreviews.com. There is an upgraded version (Tab 2), but don't think Verizon is offering it yet. They have a deal with a two-yr contract which looks good. My monthly cost would be minimal. I already have a Verizon account for my cell phone.

Deb, do you need telecom/cellular connectivity in that device? I can use my phone as a tethered hot spot if necessary, but our tablet is not cellular connected, I will use a lan or I can tether to the cellular network through my phone. Just wondering.

I'm not sure. I indicated that I didn't need/want it, but it could have it.

It's interesting. The +1 and I were in Office Depot the other day. I picked up two paper ads for tablets - one a Samsung and the other a Toshiba, on the recommendation of the techie guy there. Didn't really see which models. Today I was online and determined that I would get the one above based on my requirements I plugged into the calculator. When I got home I looked at the papers again, and the one I selected is the Samsung he recommended.
