Tablet computer
I thought that all of the Galaxy Tabs came as 3G/4G units. I guess I am mistaken.
I'll throw one more into the mix for you if you are interested ASUS trransforer prime. We have this unit, why I liked it is it has a Tegra 3 Quad core processor and it runs Android 4, also known as ICS (Ics Cream Sandwich).
Good luck with whatever your decision, +1 absolutely loves having a tablet.

You are right...I think it's 4G. The ASUS is a good one, too. Part of the reason I'm hesitating is that I don't want to become one of those people who has his/her head buried in a device all the time, particularly on the subway and walking around. Taking it on travel would be the main reason I get it, but I'm thinking I will also use it at home instead of the desktop. I've never replaced my laptop since it died and I refuse to update my antique cellphone.
The local Fry's electronics store had a Coby 7" pad for less than $100 last Saturday. It has Android 4.0. I all ready know how to use Android since my cell phone uses Android. For that price, I can use it for a year and throw it away if I'm sick of it. It is wi-fi only, but so far I haven't felt too limited by the wi-fi only aspect of it.
I had some misgivings about carrying around a 12" pad or even a 10" pad, so the 7" one works fine for me. It fit just fine in my old Nook leather case. I also ordered a case with small keyboard, but my fingers are almost exactly the same size as the keys, so any mishit turns into multiple hits on the keyboard. so I don't use it too much.

i've been using my Galaxy 10.1 tablet since November.
i like how it seamlessly integrated with my android account (ie phone) - someone in new england once said tables are to see / laptops are to do..
i love it for surfing the net, quick emails, recipes, 10.1 inch gps & media player on my dash and a few other things but i still love my laptops for other things
the kid loves it for angry birds however $500.00 is a lot for a video game..
never really enjoyed apple stuff as I find the who itunes thing not very initiative
if mine broke outside of warranty – not too sure I would buy another one
LOL just saw your post after i was responding to the old one.. let me know if you have any questions with your new toy and i'll do my best to help
Thanks for your comments. I won't be using it all that much, either, I don't think. I still have my desktop at home and a computer at work. Mainly to take on trips. I just decided it was time I moved into the 21st century, slowly.
i keep mine right by my tv - it's great responding to work emails 24/7
You're going to be amazed by how much you use it.
