Terrorist attack in Nice...
We've been to France a few times, but not for a few years. However, we'd go again in a heartbeat. And last year the +1 and our adult daughter visited the UK and Germany. Yes, you run the risk of getting caught up in an attack, but the risk is small. And frankly, terrorist attacks are happening here too. While it's sad that we all have to have some personal vigilance now in metropolitan areas and in large crowds, it's a fact of life today whether you're in the US or elsewhere.
We are not big on traveling, especially now. We live at the beach and we are very happy staying put and enjoying all this area has to offer. We do drive to Naples Fla. every year for 2 months so no airports to worry about and no large crowd gatherings when we there.
Personally, I agree with all the above who say f%$^ the terrorists. Travel wherever you like. We have been travelling to Europe since 1996 and remember the closed off trash cans in Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris then. Did not phase me at all then. We went to London in 2005 mere months after the terrorists attacks in the tube and were never concerned. Like cosmo said, I have always been more concerned about pick-pockets than about anything else. We live in a different world now. You can either hunker down, or venture out and experience the world.
David and Patty, I say: "Go for it!"
To wit, my daughter-in-law and 15 year-old grand-son just got back from two weeks in Holland, Germany, Belgium, France, and England, and they absolutely loved the experience. In fact, my grand-son wants to move over there (he got to drink beer in Germany at a bier-garten legally, plus he loved the total experience.) dlq Dave knows what it's like to live there. In fact, I've considered it, myself.

My hair stylist who is from Lebanon told me the other day that the president of Turkey has been offering citizenship to the "refugees" from Syria. Could have been one of the factors in the attempted coup, which apparently has failed according to latest reports. The president is not popular, but the military is less so it seems.
