I agree, they had nothing on him, but the case should have remained active to detect and further suspicious activity.

On the potential California shooter, it turns out he himself is gay and a gun collector. He was just going to join the festivities. He is a member of some gay gun group called "pink pistols".
Yes, he was gay, but no he is not part of the Fox Construct "pink pistols", and he was not going there to protect anything, according to his boyfriend.

I didn't get the information on PP from Fox news. I got it from a local TV station. The person who mentioned it is a neighbor or friend of this guy.

There does not have to be a law for this. If you have been questioned about making threats etc as this person was, the FBI could electronically flag your name and have it matched to background checks for gun purchases. If you bought a gun, they could perform other investigative procedures to determine if you planned to use it for nefarious purposes. Doing so in this case could have saved lives.
I think the bill that was voted down would have restricted gun sales to anyone actively under investigation, or maybe it's anyone on the no-fly list. I think a bill has been reintroduced to do one or the other. Regardless, some infrastructure will need to be set up to make such a law enforceable. The weapon used in the Orlando shootings was purchased legally.

It only takes one...

Did everyone hear about the knife-wielding terrorist who killed a police chief and his partner in France a day or two after Orlando?

So now AG Loretta Lynch is releasing the 911 tapes but she is redacting all references to Islam/ISIS from the tapes.
