Default Things in 3s

Why is it you can go months with no issues and then in one week (1) coffee pot suddenly starts leaking; seems if we make more than 8 cups it happens, so Bunn has its limits! (update... still leaks; will need replacement), (2) faucet in the main bath suddenly starts leaking and a 5 minute repair takes 3 hours, (3) kitchen hard water sink faucet suddenly starts to drip and we learn there is no replacement stem made anymore, so I bought a still-in-open-box replacement on E-Bay . Hopefully, its 3 and out. I know these are not big life changing things but they are a pain at my age to get under sinks and clean up coffee.

When I read the headline, I thought the dog would be involved in at least one of them.

It is weird Dave I think it happens to all of us. Another thing that happens (to me anyways) is I won't hear from anyone, friends or relatives for a couple of weeks and then bam everone will call or e-mail on the same day. It's not like it's because it's my day off it's just a random day just weird all or nothing.

It always happens to me as well. Bad stuff ALWAYS comes in 3s. Cannot explain it but it certainly happens.

It always seems that the simplest of repairs that should take 15 minutes become an ordeal with half the tools from my workshop downstairs utilised.

3's?? Next to last Fraternal relative passed. Same day, son (only child) went to the hospital with gastrointestinal issues (no new news yet, from his wife).

Not wanting to see the 3rd.

I kinda had 3 as well recently. Although slightly spread apart by a week (at least the first 2).

Had my water softener bypass valve start leaking the day I would have left for nats had it not been cancelled. So good that we were home, but still sucked.

A week later, was EM'ing an autocross event and had some lunatic show up, start asking questions about rules, then suddenly start going off on us because he doesnt apparently like the rules. Got very strange very quick. He basically was just there to start shit I guess since he was not even registered for the event. Found out later he is a known dick and a half from other clubs autox events too. I had to ask him to leave, he tried pushing me around physically, convinced him getting physical with me was NOT his best choice and he finally left. De-escalated without physically assaulting the guy (I have apparently matured well throughout the years lol) but still a major pile of stress in an otherwise fun day.

Then a day later, I was in a head on collision with two concrete barriers in a car that was probably still moving about 35 - 40 mph. Not going to get into detail here for many reasons, length of story being one of them. But, I walked away ok other than what appeared to be a sprained thumb. Car is actually fixable (not my s2k) believe it or not with a lot of repairs.

So yes! It always seems to be in 3's!

I also think that is common with household items, things always seem to break in groups, I am not sure about 3's exactly , but quite often more than 1.

David spend a few bucks and hire a plumber. Rick is a somewhat handy guy, but hates plumbing. He doesn't have much reach with his right arm which makes it worse. "Call a plumber" is his answer if I mention something is not right. Speaking of faucets, our faucet in the kitchen had a lifetime guarantee. If parts needed replacing, they would send them to me. The neck was pitted and looked awful. The flow on the faucet was terrible. Rick had looked at it, gave me the call a plumber response, and I did. I had the spare neck and when the plumber came by, he said they must have updated the faucet as the replacement part would not fit. When he took things apart he noted all the corrosion inside too. Hard water and a good reason for bad flow I think. So he put the old stuff back on, I picked up a new faucet and he sent his son to do the install. The plumber is 70, and doesn't care to do the crawling around under sinks anymore. Leaves that to the younger ones.

But yes, the "threes" do seem to happen often.

If anybody had two things happen, I've got the third covered. Two nights ago, using the broiler for chicken, the oven went pop, pop, pop very loud and it quit working. Smelled a bit of burning wires. Appliance repair coming next week. The four year old oven still under warranty, for parts only now, but that will save a few bucks as I'm sure the coils are toast.
