Thoughts on quiet and speed
Back during the early winter I needed to get my ladder, which hangs on the wall next to my S, to clear the gutters for the last time. After about 19 years of my stock exhaust sitting happily next to the car, the ladder caught it and low and behold, my S has it's first dent. Long story short, I took it in about a month ago to get the dent fixed and return to the stock exhaust. About two years into ownership, I purchased a Neuspeed exhaust and replaced it a few years later with my Comptech.
As some of you know we bought a beach house a few years back and that has really limited my already very limited car use. (It's not big enough for a 4-5 day trip with food and stuff) So today was the day that I took it out for the first time since last fall, and I have two observations:
1. The OEM exhaust is quiet, I had forgotten how quiet since it's been nearly 20 years since it's been on the car. No more drone from under the seat.
2. Did someone cancel speed limits? I was running with traffic, when a Maxima passed me as if I were standing still. I looked down and traffic was actually moving between 80 and 85 (which is highly unusual) and I was being passed by someone moving much closer to 100, this is on a Wed at 9:00AM, wow. I found that speeds on almost all rural roads were also, Not As Posted. I even followed a police vehicle around a slow semi on a two lane road, and I was doing nearly 65 in a 45, again following the police car.
Being in NJ where COVID has been a really big issue, I have been staying home, so driving has been very limited. This was my first time driving on the Interstate, this was different and quiet.

Ken-
Sorry about the dent.. Did you cry?
The empty roads in NJ have moved the traffic from a normal 10-15+ over to probably another 10-15 mph on top of that. I think there were also some statements made during the early pandemic shutdown to protect the police, routine stops would be limited.
I did see a sign posted on the e-boards on 295 by me and the NJTP recently. If you're ticketed, it's mandatory court. Presumably to try and reduce the general speed on the roads.

I too am sorry to hear about the dent some people don't get it but I think most of us here do on how heartbreaking that can be.
I've been content with the stock exhaust on my S I like to listen to the motor, and it does get a bit louder when I venture into the land of vtec.
Sometimes I think I can hear faint similarities of my S2k motor and the motor in my old Honda CB650.

Re: that garage accident...ooof.
I uninstalled aftermarket exhaust systems on both my S2000 and my NSX and installed OEM systems. In both cases I found the loss of the occasional thrill of the engines at full bellow was more than outweighed by the mellow vibe of the OEM units.

Thanks for the words regarding the dent, it was upsetting, but sometimes stuff happens. I wound up getting the whole front clip painted, it kind of needed it, so that was not bad.
Gary, it's hard to fathom what NJ roads look like near empty, mid-morning no less.

People driving like mad has been a thing since the restrictions went into place. Around us they have had record numbers of 100mph + tickets. And I notice this as well. I drove out about an hour yesterday to pick up some beef (I buy from a local farm) and on a 65 mph road, normal traffic was running about 80 and some were probably running 85-90. Even in the cities, people have been running upwards of 15 - 20 over vs the more typical 5-10 over. I am usually a 9 over kinda driver, and people are passing me constantly at those speeds!

We recently had a Mercedes clocked at 308Kph by the police on a 100Kph highway. For the non Metrics in the crowd that is 191.38Mph American. It was an AMG sedan, but Mercedes said it was not capable of that speed in Stock configuration so we shall see how that works out. In Ontario anything 50Kph Over the limit is an automatic 7 day licence suspension and the car is towed to the pound for 7 days plus up to a $10,000 fine.

but yes it will. speed limiter cuts in at 186 mph.

AMG with 5.5 V8 biturbo is 577 hp, with 5.8 V12 biturbo, 608 hp and 750 with a chip upgrade.
If tire size is a little off, voila! 5mph is within the margin of error. or have it shut off in firmware.
