Time for a change
^^^Thanks, Lainey. And to everyone for the votes and support!
(Wasn't that a Laugh-In line? or maybe it was Paulsen running for president
)
Wil, I'm grateful that there were no hanging chads in the Florida votes...
Interesting that we now have two great Yankee COs. With the new team the spread widens from New England to Florida to Texas -- but doesn't yet reach to California. (Kyras is next.
)
When Rob and Deb and others were going to step down, I wondered how Vintage was going to continue to survive and be so enjoyable. But, with their continued help, it did. Now with Bill, the feeling is the same. But I think it'll be ok!
But will Flts ever show up at a meet?

Good luck Jim. The tradition of great leadership continues. Vintage continues to be in good hands with you, dean and Lainey in the control room.
I'm sure I speak for all of the former C.O.s when I say that we are always available to help if you need it. I doubt that you will, but know that we are here.
I look forward to the next year.
Rob

I for one am grateful that Jim and Dean have stepped up. It's not like we had a lot of folks interested in the "fullfilling"
high paying
job, that we need to drag the process out.Thanks to Legal Bill for being my co-Co, it's been a pleasure working with you. Welcome to Jim and Dean, I look forward to working with you both.

On a more serious note - The decision making process has moved along much faster than I expected. If someone else would prefer to oversee Vintage Politics or would prefer that I not CO the forum, please speak up now either publicly or through PM to me or to the CO of your choice and make your feelings known.

If any others think that I have rushed this, please speak up here or send a PM. Nothing has been changed yet, but it could happen at any moment.
After thinking further on Jerry's post, I really do not think anything is being rushed. I announced that I would step down back at Watkins Glenn. No one came forward. I solicited people. Most declined the offer. We were very fortunate to find that Jim was interested in the job. It was kismet that dean was willing to take that part of the job that Jim had some reservations about.
Dean has been a cornerstone member of this forum, almost from the moment of his arrival. I recall that many of you suggested his name for CO when Chazmo stepped down. Still, if I was assuming too much, please tell me.
Again, throwing out some other person's name is not what we are talking about here. That practice is fine at the preliminary stages when the CO first announces the need for a replacement, but we are really months past that point. If you think you would like to do it, please step up. If you would not want to see dean or Jim as your next COs (with Lainey of course) you can post that or PM Lainey or me if you don't want to go public.
Please, speak now or forever hold your peace. (I laughed as I typed that last sentence. Like anyone in this group would ever hold their peace.)

Bill,
Jim and Dean are two fine selections. Both of them have been fine members of the Vintage forum, and both will do an excellent job as CO of their respective forums. There can be no question about that. I think there have been quite enough people agreeing that you should go ahead with the selections.
As you said, you announced your decision some time ago, and enough time has elapsed for the choices to be made and voices to be heard. The problem is that on a forum like this, especially lately, there are those who will be contrary simply for the sake of being contrary. Don't let that turn your head or give you second thoughts.
The selections are fine. These two are the very best of Vintage, and if you're ready to make the move, you should make it.
And yes, forever hold your peace (or piece, as the situation dictates).

^^^ Bill, I definitely agree. And I think vetoes are always in order here on Vintage. There is still time. If anyone has an objection to the projected I dos, speaknoworforever...
Edit: I was typing this while Rob was posting.

If there was a lot out outcry over the choices, as opposed to outcry over the 'seemingly' quick decision, there may be some grounds for further discussion. You did mention this at WG, Bill, so it's not like the entire timeline was 3 days. Plenty of time has passed, there's lots of support for the final decisions, so it's time to implement the change.
