We could be like India. They despise the Pakistanis so much they went with off time zones with half hours included. That way they will always be on a different time than the "others". Cracks me up.

I suspect that they simply are on Mecca time. which is about 26 minutes after the GMT time.

Sounds like you work too many hours in a day for your needs then. I leave in the dark and get home in the light during winter. I have sun at 5am and light until after 8pm in the summer. I've gotten up at 4:00a to go to work in freezing temperatures so I could get home with hours of daylight. Adapt yourself or adapt your job situation. There's no need for DST and we don't need to change to it.

As much as our winters are miserable, I love our summers having daylight that goes past 9:30 pm. I've been to Florida in summer months and notice the sun sets earlier down there compared to our home in summer, but our winters are depressing.

Fun fact:
The U.S.(lower 48) is about 2800 miles wide from the east coast to the west coast. That area is covered by four time zones.
China is wider at around 3400 miles. They have one time zone.

As much as I like reduced time changes, that sounds a bit odd to me. So one zone of the country gets sunrise at 7 am and the other zone gets sunrise at 11 am ? I guess you get used to it over time and your day gets planned accordingly. Interesting if nothing else.

So, the bill passed by the Senate is called "The Sunshine Protection Act".

We aren't just saving daylight. We are protecting sunshine. Sounds good to me.

Who could be against sunshine? Glad the Congress is spending valuable time on such important things. Screw energy independence, we'll just import oil until we get enough sunshine.

For those of us who live in the northern states, we have different times of sunrise and subset to those who live in the south. On December 21, the sun rose at 7:20 and set at 4:20.

Some of us work in sectors that require standardized working hours. Look beyond your own circumstances.

I agree. We don’t care if it stays dark one hour later in the AM. We’re retired so we can sleep later in darkness.
