Time to Check In, Vintagers
Hi folks,
Some of you have been around through the summer and stuck through the version 4 software upgrade on the site, not to mention the not-brief-enough interlude of the temporary s2ki site. Through this, I have tried to fill the shoes of one of our founding organizers, Rob, who abdicated his organizer role, but who continues to be very active as a member. Rob, you're aces!
Despite the changes, we have welcomed several new members, and our community continues to grow.
Many of you have drifted around a bit, perhaps put off by the changes in the site or simply because you've been doing your own thing through the summer. For our northern hemisphere contingent, we hope you have all been having a stupendous summer with your favorite car(s), and have been tearing up the roads!
For our southern hemisphere friends, I am jealous that your driving season is just starting up.
Alas, while summer may be over, the Vintage community seems to be back in full swing.
You may have missed our Vintage birthday, but our growing community has entered year #2, and it appears that we are one of the strongest forces on the site. We continue to build new, lasting friendships. We offer advice, support, and consolation when its needed. We have heated debates, but we maintain our respect for one another. Show me somewhere else where this goes on...
One of our members has recently welcomed a new life into his family, while others among us have felt the chill of loved ones passing. Several among us have changed their lives in significant ways. What unites us is a lust for life, entertainment, community, and of course driving joy!
I can only tell you that I continue to be very pleased to play an organizer role for this community. You folks never cease to impress me. Deb and I really care about this group, and I think I speak for many of us when I say that the Vintage forum (including some of our active "pre-Vints") has become an important part of our lives.
All this is a way for us to express our appreciation to you guys, and to act as an invitation for you to "post up!" Say hello here. Deb and I want to hear from you...

Lest I forget... Vintagers who are partipating in the Fall Colors '04 meet next month, please keep tabs on the Vintage gathering that Rick is planning. Details will be posted here

I didn't abdicate so much as I stepped aside to let some "new blood" (namely you) get a chance. So far so good.
None the less, I'm delighted to see that through it's first birthday Vintage continues to be the place to discuss any and all issues in a civilized fashion. Kudos to you and Deb for keeping the bar at a high level and keeping Vintage flame free.
As for filling my shoes, that should never be a consideration. you've got your own shoes and they're pretty damn good. I've seen no problem with your shoes.
I think this is a check in thread. A place where all of the Vintage members, and the preVints that frequent this forum can check in and say, "Hello, I'm still here".
That said let me be among the first to say, "Hello, I'm still here".
(By the way, the friendship and support in this forum is unbelievable. The support I got and the friendship that I was shown on the passing of my father couldn't happen on any other forum. Only in Vintage.)

Thanks to all involved for making this the forum that it is.
I can't wait to see so many of you next month at FC!
(I'm heading out in an hour to go check out the FC Drive. Wish me luck, and clear roads! - they already told us that the recent flooding has not damaged our route...))

Previntager checking in here! I still love this forum and unfortunately due to a more demanding work schedule haven't been able to interact as much as previously hoever I try to catch up as often as I can.
