Please be careful about your eye protection. I have seen several reports that some of the inexpensive solar glasses being sold on line (I.E. Amazon) that are made in China that claim to be ISO certified, but they are NOT. I have tried unsuccessfully to find some Celestron glasses, so I may just watch it on TV. Here in the D.C. Metro area we are in the 81% zone.

Matt, since Donna already has an eye disease we have determined not to risk using glasses.... its not worth it. I'm not trying to scare anyone; just what we've decided to do. But we may try the drainage bowl approach.

I ordered glasses on 4 August and received them yesterday. Here in Louisville we're at 96%. The last solar eclipse I saw was in 1963 in Plattsburgh, New York.

I've got my colander and something to project on at the ready! Using a white piece of printer paper. Colander needs to be the kind with holes, not a wire one. Hold it on your shoulder or above with your back facing the sun. Images should appear on the paper held in front of you. I've also seen them mounted on something.

Totally fogged-out, here in "sunny" So Cal. At least, as of 0900.

Hope all you in the sun's direct eclipse path are having better luck!

Wow, what a non-event that was here in Homerville! We've had rain storms 10 times darker in the middle of the day. But it was a good excuse to sit on the back porch and have a cool one. I figured with 20% of the sun still shining it couldn't be much and it wasn't.

I'd imagine Snapchat and Twitter are being flooded now. Not to mention all the text messages. Satellite OVERLOAD!
