Default Tour de France 2014

Anyone watching the race this year. Early carnage leaves some of the favorites at the roadside. Too bad about Chris Froome and Team Sky. Luckily the Pflastersteine are history. The German sprinters Kittel and Greipel are awesome this year. The American riders are doing well so far. I was not going to watch it, but can't stay away. LOL

I find it fascinating to watch but I don't follow it closely.

During the flat stages I normally watch the last 30 minutes. It’s common knowledge that these stages will be a rundown of the break away groups and a final sprint. Personally, I’m waiting for stages 14 through 18 which are primarily mountains with strenuous climbs. I’ll be happy if Contador falls out – I’ve never liked his persona and other things.

Outside of that last bit of negativity, I liked Chris Froome’s chances before he was forced to drop out. Now I just wish the best for Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas or Richie Porte.

The only reason I watch the Tour de France is the huge number of cars and motorcycles needed to keep the silly thing going. I think that I remember something like 4 cars and at least an equal number of bikes for each rider. Add to that the "pre" caravan and the press people. WOW.

I don't like Contador either. I'm pulling for TJ. Watching flat stages is like watching basketball. Tune in for the last 15 minutes. The mountain stages are more interesting.

Yeah, TJ had a bad fall today. Fell behind. Hope he is ok tomorrow.

Monster climbs today on stage 10. Contador withdraws after a crash that broke his bike in two. Apparently he injured his knee.

It’s too bad Contador had to drop out due to a crash; I would rather have seen him finish quite low in the GC.

I’m still pulling for Team Sky’s Richie Porte.

Yes, and TJ. Nibali chances are greatly improved now. Race won't be as exciting especially on the climbs without Contador and Froome.

Okay, I now feel bad about my dislike for Contador. Not only was his knee injured, he broke his tibia! I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone.
