I'll be going to DC on Friday morning and should be there just past noon and will leave on Sunday.

While we can't see everything in this timeframe, we want to see as much as we can.

Can anyone recommend a good tour? Also restaurant?

Thanks

We are staying at a The Rouge Hotel (Kimpton), on Embassy Row.

Google your hotel. It is about one block from Dupont Circle where there are lots of restuarants, shops and the Metro. DON'T DRIVE! Google the Metro. ( buy a fare card for $10 or so each if you think you want to see the city by metro ..don't worry about exact change ) If you want museums ...take the Metro to the Smithsonian stop. From there you can walk to several museums .... look for the building on your right as you walk toward the Capitol ... it will look like a redish castle. Get info there on the museums. They are FREE so take advantage of it. Stay close to yor hotel at night unless you want to taxi it to the theater ... ask your concerier for info or google Kennedy Center .... Ford Theatre ,etc. And of course, there is always the Zoo. Get up early and watch them feed the animals around 7-8 AM. You can metro there and yes, it is open that early but don't tell anyone!

Are you talking about this Fri? You can drive around if you want to, but since your hotel is so conveniently located downtown, you will want to take the subway everywhere. Parking is not easy or cheap. Go to www.wmata.com and you will see all the info you need for the subway - maps of stations, etc. There is a Dupont Circle station on the Red Line. Also go to www.tourmobile.com for info on the DC Tourmobile, a very good way to see the sights. You ride all around to various stops and you can get on and off.

PM me for more info or if you want to get together. We are just across the river from DC. Lots of great restaurants to choose from. Let me know your food preferences and I'll make some recommendations.

OK, so I'm an airplane guy, but IMO the Air and Space Museum is a must-see. I also really liked the Sculpture Garden.

The Mall stuff, too: (Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, etc.)

They're my favorite places to visit. When we were there just last month, we enjoyed a walking tour through the Arlington National Cemetery. It was a lovely place to visit and I really enjoyed watching the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
