While we can't see everything in this timeframe, we want to see as much as we can.

Can anyone recommend a good tour? Also restaurant?

Thanks
There is a Tour Mobile Tour that runs around the points of interest in DC. The hotel should be able to point you to that. Or you can catch it at any of the main stops down along "The Mall".

As far as restaurants go, the city is full of them. I depends on how much you wish to spend and what type of food you like?

Thanks everyone. We had a really nice time in DC, despite several some difficulties.

We were going to visit the city with another couple who at the last minute had to bow out due to a family illness.

Elaine and I left on Friday morning, stopped at the Shrine on the way to the hotel and arrived at the hotel mid afternoon. The hotel was very cool (Plantpixie, I have pics to show you but won't put them on the internet!). Since it was already the middle afternoon by the time we got out, we went down to the memorial/monument end of the National Mall. It was really windy and cold.

Fri. evening we went to Mimi's near Dupont Circle (Thanks Deb). We enjoyed the food and entertainment there.

Saturday we left early, did our touring and then returned to the hotel. We called the front desk to get recommendations for dinner and ended up at an Italian Rest. named I Ricchi. After dinner we went back to the hotel and put the TV on for the first time to see the news. That is when we heard about the storm that was due to arrive overnight. Not wanting to drive home in an ice storm, I called the front desk, asked for a wake up call at 1:30am and told them to have my car ready for a 2pm departure. We beat the bad weather and were home by 7:30 am on Sunday morning.

Despite the cold and having to race the weather, we had a nice time. I hadn't been to DC in many years. We will be returning but when the weather is a bit warmer.

Thanks

Glad you had a good time in spite of the weather...it was not the best weekend. Next time you are in DC, go to Il Tiramisu for dinner (also near Dupont Circle). Much better Italian food than I Ricchi.

We tried to get into Al Tiramisu, the earliest they could seat us was 10:30 pm.

Thanks,

We (wife, daughter and I) will be visiting DC at the end of March. Have noted some restaurant names for future reference. We're planning to spend most of our time around the mall, but was wondering about the Air and Space museum. I see there is one around the mall, and was also told that there is one at Dulles. Is that true? What is the difference? Which one is better, etc.

^ Yes, plan on seeing both! The original one on the Mall has lots of cool stuff, and the one at Dulles is the size of two football fields and has the really BIG planes. It's fantastic. As for restaurants, I've got lots of recommendations. Maybe the +1 and I can join you one evening. Haven't seen you since our lunch in AZ! We will be here when you come, since we will be in the middle of kitchen renovation. PM me.
