Default Turkey Day

So Thanksgiving is next week. Time flies when you are having fun.

So who's cooking and who's mooching off the parents and or kids? I will somehow find my way back into the kitchen and prepare Thanksgiving dinner with a lot of help from Rick.

We are expecting our son and his little family, my sister and brother in law and my Mom.

I have the Friday off and there will be no Black Friday shopping. I'd rather eat broken glass.

Edit: Meant to post in New England, as I'd bet most of us Vintage folks do the cooking, but it's nice to know what folks do for the holiday, so tell us!

Yes you did....didn't you see my edit?

I also know you are in the "mooch category" this year.

I'll be doing both. I'll be mooching from my mom on the big day. A few weeks later I'll be hosting Thanksgiving II with my dad.

Both. I'll smoke a turkey and take it to Mom's next door. Might make some oyster dressing too but haven't decided yet.

Mooching for a change. Headed to Laurel, DE to my mom and dad's house for Thanksgiving. Sandy, my boys, and my daughter-in-law will be going up. My brother will be down from CT and my two sisters will be there.

Mom is having Thanksgiving catered this year. Last couple of years she had a house full and all the work was rough on her...she is one of those who has a hard time letting others help with the cooking. Anyway, last year my aunt talked her into getting a local outfit cater dinner and it turned out really great! So the same folks will be feeding us this year.

I'll miss spending six or seven hours in the kitchen fixing all the Thanksgiving grub at our place. Normally we have another feast on Christmas eve (just snacks and sandwiches all day Christmas day) but this year my boys will be fixing the big Christmas Eve dinner since Sandy and I get back from our anniversary cruise on the 24th. Should be interesting!

I'll be cooking-because it is a passion! Even though I'll have just finished making desserts for the masses at my business Wednesday (pies etc.). It keeps me connected with tradition and great memories all the way back to childhood- who isn't immediately transported back with the first wiff of Sage & poultry seasoning coming from the stove each year?

It's tricky - you also have to be sure they don't burn up the side.
