Yeah, I like that idea. My condo "adopts" three local families during the holidays and gives them gift certificates, clothes, household items, etc. as donated by the residents.

It shouldn't be a hassle. If it is, there's something wrong with the whole idea of giving. One year I gave everyone a tree in their name to be planted somewhere where trees are needed. They got a certificate about their tree. I like stuff like that.
Oooo Deb, good news. I'm not expecting you to get me a Garmin Navigation system right now. I will like it and use it. Go to Best Buy, its on sale... Hurry!!! I'll go wait by my door.

Last year I donated a wheel chair to Jacob's Heart foundation. While there I felt that I needed to return. These kids really need and so does organization. Another good place is to donate to the "Tree of Lights" at Hospice which usually involves adults. I really feel a need to give to the kids at Jacob's Heart. So much pain and so much misery so very early in life. They really do need us and if you don't know where to start, this is the place. A donation in someone's name is wonderful and very much appreciated.

If the person travels on airplanes much, definitely get a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones. Got some last year for myself, great product. There's an updated version out now.

I was reviewing this post and it's very interesting noting that most of you extend your giving to people in need across the spectrum.

I'd like to make a suggestion to you all that when you do feel that way, commit yourselves to giving that way several times a year. I was President of the Harry Chapin foundation here for many years. They fund food banks and lobby hunger issues.

One of the biggest issues faced by charities that serve the same need every day is the fluctuation in funding. It peaks at Christmas and then falls off while the need in the community stays the same. Kids are still just as hungry in May as in December.

Imagine Theres No Hunger

If any of you are T shirt collectors. I have a few T shirts here with John Lennon's Chop on them. They are logoed "Imagine There's No Hunger" rather than just "Imagine".
Yoko Ono gave me special permission to produce these about 10 years ago. They're all in XXL size. Donate something to your local food bank and let me know, I'll send you one.

Happy Holidays
