Not the best photos I've ever taken, but I didn't even end up taking that many.
We (the family and my sister and her family) rented a cottage for a week about 50 miles south of the Thousand Islands area of NY. Anika really enjoyed spending time with her cousins, Nina & Gaile. The vacation mostly consisted of sitting back with some wine & watching the kids play.
The first evening in the cottage - playing dress-up:

We took a short cruise through the islands, and spent some time on Heart Island visiting the Boldt Castle. From their website: "At the turn-of-the-century, George C. Boldt, millionaire proprietor of the world famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, set out to build a full size Rhineland Castle in Alexandria Bay, on Picturesque Heart Island. The grandiose structure was to be a display of his love for his wife, Louise. In 1904, tragedy struck. Boldt telegraphed the island and commanded the workers to immediately "stop all construction." Louise had died suddenly. A broken hearted Boldt could not imagine his dream castle without his beloved. Boldt never returned to the island, leaving behind the structure as a monument of his love." Since then, it has been almost finished and is open for tourists.
A view of the 'playhouse', which housed some rooms with pool tables, a bowling alley, and other game rooms. Definitely a guy kind of place!
Anika insisted on picking her nose for this one. She was in a phase where she would reach for her nose every time a camera was pointed her way. Kids.....
View straight up from the main staircase. Wow.

That's the powerhouse behind us (generators for the island).
Bye, bye, Boldt castle!
When we arrived back at the dock, look what we saw:
New York State is really big on Carousels. All of them in the Binghamton area are free! (Can you tell that Anika loves carousels? )
Ice cream is not so bad, either!
Nor are candy apples from the Cider Mill in Owego, NY!
