Val reported heavy rain and ice in the Myrtle Beach area this morning and a state of emergency has been declared. I know they have trees down and power outages. She has not called me back, so perhaps her power is out now. Boo...could be days before it's restored. I'm hoping the higher temps Fri melt what's left of the ice, but it remains to be seen. Looks like 6-9" here in DC tonight, with sleet/rain tomorrow AM. Maybe by Fri AM the planes will be flying out of National, but that could be wishful thinking. The plan to go is looking iffy at this point.

Val did lose power for awhile, but back on now. Lots of trees/limbs down, though.

My BIL was supposed to fly in today (to Kennedy) from Pasadena (via LAX) but that's not going to happen. Don't know when he'll get a flight. We are getting clobbered!

I have a confession to make. I love snow. I was born and raised in Iowa. I have never ridden a school bus. I have never experienced a snow day from school. We walked to school every day regardless of the weather conditions. I have built some of the greatest snow forts out of blocks of snow. And flown down the best of hills on nothing less than cardboard! Snow makes me happy!!

We had about 8 to 10 or therabouts. Not horrible, although there's nowhere to put much of the snow after last week. The piles around the driveways and common area are pretty high.
Now, it's been about an hour of freezing rain. Whatever snow was there is now crusted over, and it seems like its falling faster than we can clean it up.
Officially, I'm now starting to get sick of it.
