red,
be patient and start the process of getting into consulting now.
be cooperative to a point. express your desire to see the company be successful.
on the flip side you have something they cannot outsource which for lack of a better word is primal knowledge. do not underestimate its value. make them pay for that knowledge. you are golden if you were involved in the architecture of the product. remember not everyone in management will be on board with the decision to outsource. in the time you have left identify those people, they are your allies. treated correctly they will be your cash cows.
I have several acquaintances who have followed this path. you get what you pay for and the offshore subcontractors aren't everything they are cracked up to be. the company will pay a fortune to right the ship when the product doesn't work or they can't meet schedule, which are both likely events.

Agreed. As always, you hit the nail on the head. I've just got to decide how much of a whore I'm willing to be.
This happened to me on Feb 16 of this year. I'm still unemployed, and about to move. But I am tired of "offshoring" my skills and experiance, and this time, I just said "no" and took the money instead of notice.

Sorry you've got to deal with this - the whole process is nasty.

Don't leave until you have something else in the pipeline. I retired from my company 2 years ago, but only after I had a contract job secured.
