I agree with Matt's summary of what is wrong, in general.

I agree with Dean's statement that people in general are fallable.

Outstanding.

I buy this line of reasoning over mikegarrison's. Yes, tddlers wander around all over the place, that's why they are called toddlers. So knowing that the parents should take adult like actions such as stated above.

2 year olds can range almost up to 3 yrs old.
and a 30 month old kid can be extremely active and very quiet at the same time.
at 2 1/2 there isn't a whole lot they can't climb over.

likewise accidents can happen, for all I know the child may have stumbled in front of the car and the poor driver may never have seen the child.

Given that we only have a snippet, I'd be reluctant to be too hard or lenient on either party with what I've seen so far.

Maybe, mom was a crackhead and sleeping it off.
or Maybe mom did everything she could with what she had and just failed.

Maybe the driver is a vapor-headed conceited twit who was drunk as a skunk and daddy got it 'fixed' for her.
Maybe she is still racked with grief over a momentary lapse in attention.
I just don't know.

I do know, it is a sad event which I suspect both parties will carry to their grave.

No arrests made yet for the driver of the car who killed the 76 year old gentleman. He left 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren and a loving wife. He would often wear a shirt with pictures of his children on them and was adored by his grandchildren. I have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren and I feel their pain. Very sad.

^ For this I am thankful. The gentleman seemed to have had a full life and was still active. I can only hope that when the Lord takes me, it is swiftly. I pray that I do not go through, and do not put my family through, a drawn-out departure. Hopefully his death is a reminder to his loved ones to live everyday as if there were no tomorrow.

As for the case of the child, I cannot imagine the anguish/remorse/etc. I'd feel if I failed in such a manner. I'm sure it would it would drive me to do something rash.

And , folks.
