I'd be a little reluctant to raise and lower that cold vinyl roof in sub-freezing temperatures due to tearing or cracking. I coped with Midwestern winters for over 42 years, so I know you all are just trying to convince yourselves that top down driving is no problem in the winter.
Chaz is serious. He's top down just about all the time. We give up at 50 degrees.

I agree that it's fun to drive top-down on a nice sunny, crispy, winter's day...as long as the temp is above 32*F. However, below 32*, my top goes up.

I've never had a problem with the top in cold weather. I've had it down in temperatures in the low teens. I generally park the car in my garage with the top down so I don't have to take it down when I start out. If I stop somewhere I have to put it up and take it down again, but so far it hasn't been a problem.

I think the real problem is with the model years 2000 & 2001. I think the plastic rear window is prone to cracking in the very cold. I have a MY 2002 with a glass rear window.

Like Chazmo, I drive all winter with the top down. Its exhilarating.

I drove mine top-down all year in Virginia (unless there was a lot of snow/slush on the roadways. People who didn't understand thought I was nuts. The heater is great and inside the cabin is nice and toasty. The cold air is exhilarating.

I call 'em swirlies, crank up the heat, and feel the cold and the hot swirling around your head.

I've also eaten through two vinyl tops (and currently need a new one but probably won't anytime soon), but who's counting.

Rick has never used one. Battery on the '04 is still original.
