I posted this to see if anyone would pick up on our President's somewhat amusing statment in his recent press conference about our occupation of Iraq. He said something like, the people of Iraq are not happy about their country being occupied by the United States. I don't blame them. I wouldn't like to be occupied either.
I got a real good laugh over that one.

.....what else to do? Granny made me do it....
By "occupied", I am assuming Rick is making reference to one's having a trade, business, profession, or other gainful employment. And it's a good thing.
Problem is, with the instability in the workplace, many perople find themselves with out employment when they aren't quite old enough to retire, and aren't quite young enough to be seen as "employable" by employers. These find themselves without an occupation through no fault or lack of desire on their part.
This happened to me. Fortunately, I saw it coming, or at least the possibility of it, and planned for it. I found myself "unoccupied" far earlier in life than I had planned, but at least my prior planning kept me from going broke over it. But yet nobody would hire me, as I was too old!
I even had an adult daughter who gave me hell for not being "occupied." The, an opining in my area came up with HER COMPANY WHERE SHE WAS PRETTY HIGH UP THE LADDER. I APPLIED, USED HER AS A FERERENCE, AND TOLD HER ABOUT IT. Not a single call! Same results with all the resumes I sent out. Just too damn old.
So, since my career ended with an office closing when I was too old to be re-employed, I have stayed "occupied" in a way. I have re-done the house. Traveled the world. Engaged in politics. Revived my interest in cars from my youth. I guess that is "occupied."

What makes this good news maybe is that you are happy in your current situation, dolebludger.
Good to hear from you. You even found this old thread -- a fun thread that has been revived several times now.
I suggest you join us in Vintage since you are kind of 'old'
like the rest of us here.
We would like you to post here as often as you like, and attend some of our meets with your S.
If you want a Vintage badge for your online signature (see mine, below) just request it here or PM dean or S1997.
Meanwhile, as Rick commented at the time, Iraq is still occupied...
