Default WTB: Civic or Fit

I need to find a car for our daughter in DC. Here is a link to the Carolinas Forum post.

I am in Upstate SC, so I look at cars in SC, NC, GA, VA -- you get the point.

Thanks, Marty

I've got a 07 Fit (Manual Tranny) and really love the car. Getting 33 mpg's running around town with it, and has plenty of cargo space with the rear seats folded down.

We had an 06 Civic and usually got 36 mpg with it. Never had any issues except for OEM tires that came with.

I know the '06 well. #1 daughter has one and loves it -- 30-33 mpg on the Washington Beltway -- that's why I want another one.

I really love my '08 Fit but it has a manual transmission. We drove an automatic and can't recommend it. Too slow!

I had both on 05 Civic EX Special Edition and an 06 Civic EX with Navi and I loved them both. The 06 was my favorite car but my wife is shorter and didn't like the visibility out of it as much as the 05. The 06 seemed to be faster and I found it more comfortable due to the seat adjustments as well as the tilt/telescopic wheel.

Both were automatics and both are over 30mpg highway. I could usually get 36+ out of the 06 on the highway at 75 mph.

The 05 was a bit easier to parallel park but that was probably due to slightly better visibility (even though I never really had a problem feeling comfortable driving it).

The 06 also had the rear airbags.
