The solution is to move to New Zealand every 6 months....like in November Spring is just starting to bloom here....wildflowers all over the place and everyone glad to bid goodbye to winter for a while

The weirdest thing is that the Chanukah and Christmas holidays here are in the middle of SUMMER

I am NOT looking forward to winter. More and more every year I dread it and wish we could move to a place where there is no snow/ice/freezing temps. It is usually fairly moderate here, but I hate the snow and ice and bitter cold.

The change in seasons is nice, I just wish it didn't last as long as I get sick of winter after the holidays.

^^^ Yep, it probably will not snow. Several years ago we went out and bought a nice little snow blower and have only used it 3 times. +1 always cleans our drive, then does the driveway of the little nurse (single parent) across the street and the older couple up the street. They call him Santa's elf. I hope you've bought enough equipment that it won't snow in Virginia either.

I don't mind it. I love to ski, so that's a plus. Also, winters in NJ are a lot nicer than winters in Ireland. It's colder, but at least we see the sun here.
As for daylight, winter in Ireland has the sun rising at around 8:40am, and setting just after 4pm. If you work 9-to-5, you don't see much daylight for a while.

I don't really mind it. But I would never live any farther north than here. Maybe a bit farther south in a few years (Eastern NC is high on my list). Our winters recently have been warm and not much snow - but we do get some big storms once or twice during the season. This area is so variable weatherwise, we never know what we are going to get from one year to the next. One winter a few years back, we had a huge ice storm and the ice didn't go away for six weeks. It was awful. Snow I can handle - ice I can do without.
