Unless we donate to a specific cause, say something as simple as "help raise money for playground equipment", once the check is written, the donation belongs to the organization with no strings attached.

I've looked at the information available before donating to some charities. I want to see how they spend the donations received. When my mother in law passed away, we requested donations to Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.

It appears this organization spends their donation money appropriately.

I think it is up to the contributor to research where the money goes and what percentage of the money actually gets to the cause your looking to support
