Default 303 on Soft Top Damage

Hi. I did a search on this and didn't found much info....

So I use 303 on my soft top everytime I wash the car. I spray 303 on foam then use the foam to apply 303 on the top. Thing is, I've noticed the spots that rub when the top is down seem like they are "melting" and the 303 multiplies the wear by acting like a lubricant. The wear spots are much shinier and smoother than the rest of the top. Any thoughts? Is this something that happens regardless of me using 303 or not? They could just be regular wear. Car has about 16k miles btw and I do go top down most of the time.

It might be a build up of 303. You shouldn't need to use it every time you wash. My suggestion would be to monitor it after regular washes, not using 303.

You only need to use 303 cleaner/protect 2 times a year at most.

Could just be normal wear. Mine did something similiar before. 303 doesn't need to be used everytime you wash the car. Probably once every 3 - 4 months.

I use the 303 cleaner every 4-6 weeks. Really, whenever the top looks dirty.

Come on people, It's wear from putting your top up and down. If 303 is acting like a lubricant there would be less wear, that's what a lubricant does. I used 303 a few times a month for 6 years and my top still looked new when I sold it. it did have a few spots that had some wear but it's normal. My top went up and down all day.

It's definitely not the 303. I reapply 303 after every wash and don't experience anything like this.

Precisely.

You should be using 303's convertible top cleaner any time your top is dirty. You might be able to get away with 303 protectant only 2 times a year depending on how harsh the sun is where you live. Down here it's certainly not enough.
