Wait, I thought everyone knew this.
BTW, halogens only show a certain types of scratches/swirling. Combine a few different light types for the best look. i have 1500 watts of halogens and 4 overhead 32 watt fluorescents in my garage and it still needs to go in the sun for final inspection.

Sunlight lights up the entire car, but I believe that halogens can show more than sunlight if placed correcly, and you view the finish from a certain angle.
I just bought two Craftsman 500 watt lights with stand. I just spent the last three evenings detailing my car. If you aim the halogen 90 degree's directly toward the finish, then view with the light directly behind, you could almost see a microscopic scratch. Thats the money shot
I find that with halogens, you have to constantly re-position the light, and view the finish from a certain angle to see the paint a certain way, whereas sunlight makes it easier to see pretty much the entire car from more angles.
Flouresents work great on horizontal panels. Powerfull overhead halogens also work very well on horizontal panels.
My halogens work very awsome on the vertical parts of the car. I can also remove it from the stand, and go over the whole car by putting the light right up to the finish doing a walk around.
