So during my spring break I decided to give my car a quick detail. The process consisted of a car wash, clay bar, one layer of polish, and two layers of wax. Total time spent was about 13 hours. Does that seem right? How long does it usually take you guys to do 1 layer of polish on the s2k? Oh yea i'm using i think either 5 or 5.5" pads if that matters.

 

not sure what you mean by a layer of polish...

polish is worked, not layered- and yes, a full polish and detail does take a full day -

in any case you sure sound like a wacko and need a badge. to get one post up pics of your clean car and pm me.

 

Cool sounds good I'll post pics soon when i get my camera. But yea not layer but I guess one run of polish?

 

My friend and I did my Wife's Scion in about 6.5 hours, maybe a little longer. Keep in mind this was with 2 people. It took me about 9 hours to do the same steps on my Pathfinder last year.

That 9 hours did not include the interior or engine bay though, so don't feel bad.

 

I spent 25 hours on a car last weekend..

 

i spent 4.5 hours, on the s2k's exterior. no bumpers though since the rear's scratched to hell already and the front's tapped/rock chipped and still in paint curing process

 

Haha same here. 13 hours was just on the exterior only and honestly i'm fairly disappointed because i still have some swirls left. I guess my polish isn't abrasive enough to remove most of them. Oh well once I'm done with school I'll detail my car again but with a more cutting polish and larger pads.

 

20 hours on my wife's Audi a month or so ago, provided you can keep it washed and waxed after that you should be okay.
