Default AP1 rear bumper plastic: looking dull

Hi guys,

Did a quick search, but didn't find a thread about this, so sorry in advance if this question was answered before.

The black plastic strip on the rear bumper of my '03 is faded and looking really dull. Is there anything particular you guys use to "shine" it up again?

Thanks for any help!

Yeah, the black trim above the exhaust.

I would try some 303 protectant on it.

Some Poorboy's Trim Restorer will fix that right up for you. I love the stuff on exterior plastic/rubber. It restores a dark black look to black pieces, repels water, and seems to last longer than some other protectants.

That would be my first choice.

If not, I would just go with some Armor All.

It was my understanding that this is not a separate plastic piece. It is part of the bumper itself and simply painted a contrasting color. That being the case ... simply treat this with the products you use on your paint ...

While I don't own an S2000, I have been very pleased by the improvement that Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer provides. I used it on my dad's Corolla, which went from this to this

Plastic and rubber trim returns to a rich black.

It is indeed one solid piece, but I'm not sure it's painted. I think the plastic is actually that color. PB's Trim Restorer or maybe even some Klasse AIO would be my choices.

If it's ABS plastic, you can actually use a heat gun/hair dryer on it to return the faded plastic back to black. If you're uncomfortable trying that, I'd go with any of the other products mentioned above.
