no prob, i would clay my car but i just detailed it and i then bought the bar so i will wait a month or to

 

i just bought z1,z2 and the clay bar. I washed with dawn and jut clayed the car with water as the lubricant. will that hurt the car?

 

Isn't that what you're supposed to do, Hamada? Or, are you saying that you're worried because you didn't use the Zaino car wash mixed in with the water...

I'm sure it won't make any difference (spoken from pure ignorance, of course)

 

i think they recommend you use a Z7+Water mixture because it's more slick. i don't think it hurts anything if you end up using water, ou're just trying to lubricate the surface to slide the clay over.

i just did a full zaino treatment with clay bar, it was a new car, but it still made the surface extra smooth, and the Z2 went on easy. i highly recommend you do the clay bar, it seems expensive, but the clay goes a long way. it should last quite awhile.

thanks! I zaino'ed it about a week ago and its getting kinda dirty. Should I just wash it with dawn or just plain water. I mean i dont want to mess up the wax job... it took me like 3 hours!

I read elsewhere that the Dawn wash is only recommended prior to application of the polish... It strips normal wax and basically gets you to the raw finish. My read on these products (totally theoretical at this point since I haven't got 'em yet) is that the polish is now applied to your car and you should be washing with the Zaino car wash and glossing with the spray stuff... It's supposed to be easier and quicker now with polish applied than it was originally. I'm sure you can always apply another polish layer after your wash to deepen the effect.

Oh yeah, I meant to post that as a retraction. The other folks were definitely right about that. It's vinyl, even on the '02s. Quite impressive!

On another front, I removed my windshield tape this weekend and I'm gonna post the pictures I took documenting it. I'll put that in another thread once I've downloaded the images from the Elph. Upshot is that I have two of the "sanded down" areas that at least one other guy was talking about. Apparently, Honda isn't doing this just for aesthetics; they're covering up blemishes! Somewhat disappointing.

So, I'm wondering, if I just use Z2 polish on top of these sanded areas (clearcoat is GONE), will that be a good idea? I intend to Simonize to buff the area as smooth as possible first (prior to Clay)... Any thoughts out there? [I'll re-post this with my documentation of tape removal later]
