Badge application: 2004 Silverstone
Well, I spent yesterday afternoon with a borrowed Porter Cable. And I'm a believer! That thing is amazing. Far, far more effective than doing it by hand, and easier too. I'll be ordering one of these things from Detailer's Domain tomorrow.
I'd asked about what products to use - and I ended up rolling the dice, and I'm glad I did. There's a local place just up the road called Majestic Solutions that sells a bunch of stuff to the local mobile detail guys. They've been around for years, and were open Saturday morning, so I stopped in. I ended up using:
1. Whatever car shampoo the mobile detailer guy used to wash it (we're under water restrictions here so I had no other option)
2. Purple clay bar with their house brand detail spray
3. "Black Beauty" polish
4. "Supreme Wax" Caranuba / Polymer blend wax
5. Stoner Invisible Glass
6. Stoner "More Shine Less Time" tire stuff
7. Vinylex on the convertible top, buffed thoroughly to prevent runoff
8. Lexol leather cleaner
9. Majestic Auto Solutions leather conditioner
It was my first time using a PC of course, and I think the car could have used a slightly more aggressive polish than the "black beauty" stuff - but I think it's a marked improvement. I'd love to see what you all think...
Oh, and apologies for my lack of photog skills - I just bought this Canon Rebel XTi not long ago, and I'm still learning the very basics...
The swirls I had to contend with to start:

An "after" shot I took expressly for one of my buddies...

Good shot in the driveway showing off some reflectivity:

Objects in mirror are closer than they appear...

The nice shine makes it that much easier to see my bald head...

Front view:

My lack of photography skills are apparent here, but I still like the background:

Reflections of a building across town:

I still see some swirls on there, but I think it's a lot better than it was:

Engine bay didn't need much cleanup since the car has 26K miles on it...
