Default Griots Garage

I'm a wash a wax Freak-O. I've been reading on tons of products that you guys use all the time and have been researching like crazy!! Found something that I believe no one has use before. Griots. I am buying my first 2004 AP2 next week and will do a full interior and exterior cleaning. will show pics soon! So i will be waiting for my badge.

Wash a Wax freak because instead of using a leaf blower on the car, I use my Own breath to get all the water out of every nook and corner till I pass out!

Here's my last baby that I sold to get my 1st S2000.

Ill be waiting for my badge real soon!

Griot's is ok. Not really a fan of there stuff. I work with a guy who swears by them, and uses only there stuff on his 'vette.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff off autogeek, autopia-carcare.com, and coastal tools.

Griots to me seems like there head is inflated, but thats just my 2 cents.

Let us know what you get, and post up some before and after pics.

Good luck on the purchase of the S, welcome aboard and enjoy all this great info

p.s. Now you have an excuse to pay for a membership!!!

Griots is nothing new, plenty of people use it. There are several guys on here that use it as well. Like someone already said, I think they're OK but nothing spectacular, definitely not a good value. Your money could do better IMHO.

If you just want to be different by using an "odd ball" product I'd go with Finish First or Werkstatt.

griots is a popular supplier- they do a great job of catalog prep
they are overpriced, but do have some good products (one of my fav carnauba detail sprays is theirs)

i gave them up about 10 years ago when i had some issues with one of their polishes on pinstripping on a show jeep- i wrote a polite complaint and never got a response, even after sending it twice... unlike other sites that i have dealt with- i know owners of several other sites because of their customer service.
for some other great sites, we have a sticky with several listed.

and chinoman- that is some nice shine... if you really want a badge all you gotta do now is pm me and its yours!

I've used most all of there stuff and only have a couple of observations.
- There polishes are very water based and are a real challenge to use. I think you'll find that Menzerna provides the absolute best polishes on the market today. Easy to use and terrific results.

-Best of Show wax is a good wax, but it's a no fun to apply and remove. Give P21S a try if you want to compare the two. There are like night and day when it comes to application and removal. I can pretty much guarantee you'll love P21S..it's just fun to use.

-Speedshine, wheel cleaner, rubber cleaner, engine cleaner' vinyl protectant, interior cleaner, plastic polish, chrome polish are hard to beat. Easy on your skin and your car. Very low solvents and really work great on a new car.

-You can find better buys on microfiber. Griots sorely lacks in this department.

Lots of people have varied opinions about Griots. I find they've got positives and negitives like all the rest. Bottom line...have fun and enjoy and post up some pics showing us how she looks when you're finished.

i have to say i am impressed...

when you first came here, you were hooked on griots (i recall your early posts).
i agree that they have strengths, and you are now able to see that other sites have advantages with certain products over griots. and i agree with just about all of your observations- especially the one that its all opinions and everyone should use what they love!

if i could give two badges, you would be wearing them!!

So very true...

I think my biggest problem I had with Griots was the polish. And to their credit, they really tried to correct the problems (micromarring) I was encountering using there polish. They sent me 3 set of diferent polishes and pads via Fed Ex, refunded my money...but in the end nothing they offered seemed to work. I bassically took a wild ass guess with Menzerna PO106FF and it worked like magic on the first pass.

I think it took that encounter to get me curious enough to then try out P21S, Blackfire, Souvearn, Zymol, Zanio,Victoria, Swissvax, and lastly Pete's 53. Now after all that wax and sealant you'd think I need to re-polish the again from all that rubbing.....I'm proud to say she's still nearly as perfect as it was back in Decemeber after that Menzerna polishing.

I still use numerous Griot's products pretty religiously, they've always been very good to me and that kind of service always make me a loyal customer with anyone who I do business with. I've yet to require any serious customer service for some of the other new vendors yet, but sooner or later they'll all get a chance I'm sure.

Hopefully, they'll all respond with the same level of concern as Griot's did for me in the past. That kind of service always goes along way...
