Default This bugs the hell outta me!

I can't stand it. Every year around this time the front of my car get's destroyed by bug guts. Even after i wash it there's still bug residue on my bumper and i find that the only way to get them off effectively is to sit there and gentally scrape it off w/ my finger nail. Only problem is that takes forever. Is there a product out there that'll get the residue off?? I once boughta bottle of bug and tar remover from autozone but that was practically worthless. And I'm not about to coat the front bumper w/ WD40 or cooking oil. someones got to have an answer.

I feel your pain, as I have had the same problem. Griot's Garage has a product called "Bug Off" that you spray on and wipe off after you have cleaned your car of the bug guts. It makes them much easier to get off thereafter. To get off what you have now, try clay bar --- with lots of lube. Short of that, I have pretty good luck just washing off the bug remains when I have a good carnauba paste wax job on my car, which has been followed with a spray and wipe-down with Eagle One Wet wipe & shine.

Thanks,
Richard

I've had good success with Poorboy's Bug Squash. A very good solution. Then hit it with a QD, if no time to wash.

Poorboys Bug Squash
Wash
Clay
layer with sealant
top the are with a carnuba

drive off and keep the Poorboys bottle with you and a clean MF towel, and it should simply wipe off easily. Being that bumpers are painted plastic, it really makes it difficult to keep pristine unless its a garage queen.

Have you considered a clear bra?

Mine is installed on just the front bumber (not hood) and on the back quarter panels where the rear wheels kick up onto the panel. This makes cleaning the car simple. Bug guts just wipe off and protected from rocks.

Yeah, I have a clear bra too. The bugs don't stick to it. Just a little soap and water and they are gone.

Personally i use AutoGlym Active insect remover but you can soak a cloth/towel in hot water and then cover the effected area with it, leave to soak for a bit then blast with a hose.

My car is a garage queen. Any bugs that wind up on the front bumper i just hit with a little bit of Griot's Garage Speed Shine and a MF towel.

I've never used it myself, but you could give this a shot.

A good pressure washer comes in handy for bug removal.
