Default California Car Dusters

I purchased the full size Calif. Car Duster at Wal-Mart for $9.96. I have seen it sell for close to $20 everywhere else. The only difference that I can see is that the one in Wal-Mart has a Plastic handle instead of a wood one.

I also purchased the Dash duster for less than $3.

Personally, (Just my opinion), I'de never-ever use one of those. I have 2 of them you can have! (If you come to my garage and pick them up...)

Mainly because, even though they are gentle, soft, oily, etc... You ARE wiping dirt over your clear... even if its just a little bit, your still doing it. If you have a dark car, the scratches in the clear under florescents will become more obvious.

Now, don't get me 'wrong'.. I'm just ultra-anal about what touches the surface of my car. If you have a light car (silver/white), you'de probably never see the fine scratches it leaves.

$.02,

Amartin is right,

Cali dusters are ok if ONLY USED WITH DUST. You have to use them very lightly also. Make sure that there is NO dirt on your car or you will scratch your clear. You need to be sure that your car is clean except for the dirt. This is where so many people mess up with their dusters. They think it's a dry car wash. Also, don't use them for brake dust.

But to be really safe, wash the car. Although, I love the mini duster for the dash. It's a great tool especially following a little brush for the nooks and cranies.

The wax/silicone on the dusters when smeared on the paint will make it look worse - esp. when used in warmer temps. As others have pointed out, it works better when dusty so as no to leave behind the wax residue.

i have several dusters... never use the interior one.
use the others all the time on my black car. no scratches...
yes, you have to use them cautiously-
my car gets a good hand wash, then is covered by the car cover.
after driving, it is covered.
usually dust it before covering in the gararge.
with the duster, and some touch-up (wash windows; sometimes detail spray to clean up body parts) the car can go close to a month looking like it was just detailed.

I use one, but let it air out when new (too much grease on them).

Has anyone used one of the new "squeegee" things... I think they are called Water Blade. You use them to wipe water off the car instead of using a chamois. Do they work? I would think they drap dirt particles across the paint...

I use the CA water blade to get as much water off the car after washing as possible, then switch offer to chamois pads to get the small spots. It does the trick!
