they said "the bumper was fitted on pretty tightly, so when we pulled it off from the rear quarter panel, the paint was stuck to it... naturally it peeled off as we removed the bumper" now its a little less than perfect because the paint at the very edge of the bumper is chipped up and haphazardly repaired with touch up paint and sanded/buffed down.

lesson learned: GO TO A GOOD TRUSTED BODY SHOP!
I wouldn't be as upset that it got messed up because things happen (mistakes), but I would be upset that they touched it up with touch up paint. They should have repainted it properly. Next time you get any bodywork done, the place that does it will probably re-paint it for a little extra and make it right.

Like others suggested, speak with your body guy.
The problem I found is that most body shop guys don't REALLY know. Get the products they use and consult the manufacturer. The last time I had a bumper painted Sherwin Williams Auto told me just to wait 7 days. If it was a part that was baked/UV'd off the car, I could wax immediately.

yea... but after the chipping of the bumper i was kinda scared to let them handle anything else in my car... plus its another thing to get painted and blended in... i was worried of more possible harm to the car thats why i decided not to push it and just forced them to sand down the small damage and do the best they can with a little touch up paint... at the time it was acceptable for me to to go for less
