Default car paint maintenance

Ok, so I just got my car repainted. whats the best way to treat the car.. without going overboard. Should I only go to touchless car washes so I don't get scratches and swirls on my paint? Anybody got any tips..

Thanks alot

nope, you should hand wash it yourself... to minimize or eliminate swirls and paint damage as well as damage to your top seals.

and you should ask the body shop how long the cure process is for what they used on your car- the most important thing that you need to do is to get a good synthetic or wax on the car. you want it to look even better than it does now, and its lookin pretty good!

I've been told not to wax a car for a month after it's been painted, to allow for the paint to "breathe"/cure. After that, HAND WASH ONLY. Automated car washes will screw your paint up everytime. Everytime you wash it, try and follow up with a wax, at least a coat or two every month (weather permitting). Claybar and a light buff twice a year, and you'll be set. Silver is a very easy color to take care of.

i would definitaly wash the car yourself and use good quality waxes once a month...the paint job looks excellent and the clear coat finish looks really flat and there is very minimal peel to it...i would buff the car using a coarse compound twice a year and foam pad with a finishing glaze after you compound...if you do this, the paint will always keep that new look

It looks great at this size and angle, indeed!

I'd also put off waxing for 4-6 weeks and instead use a glaze like 3M Imperial Hand Glaze to protect it in the meantime. The glaze will allow the paint to breathe and cure properly while providing SOME (rather minimal) protection and a nice gloss in the meantime.

Great advice. I work at a large collison repair shop and this is exactly what the guys on our paint team recommend.

(Love your car, btw. It's virtually identical to mine.) It looks like they did a great job.
