car show prep?
I will be driving from ny to philly on saturday. I have already washed, clayed and wax the car. I used meguires wash, clay and gold class wax. (1 coat of wax) I will have the front of my car taped up for the drive. - was wondering what would be best for the car once I got there. Carnuba? Polish? I really would like the paint to shine. Any help is appreciated. Thanx
assuming that the car does not pick up too much road dirt (if so it needs a wash), a good detail spray and a coupla mf towels will do the trick- i also use a "rag" (old mf) for the wheels and lower parts- all with the detail spray.
might also use some glass cleaner on the windows.

many detail sprays contain some sort of wax or synthetic...
they are basically just a cleaner spray. if the car is dusty or lightly dirty, you can dust it off (use a california duster or similar duster) then spray small areas and wipe them off.
if its really dirty (any grime at all) then i agree that a wash is best.

I got some spray on cleaner from a Mercedes body shop that will clean and shine any car that does not have dirt clods hanging from it. It is Ardex 4288 Spot Delivery. After that, another product I got there is Autoglym Radiant Car Polish. Now, the Autoglym product is really a glaze that does not hold up well in rain or car washes. But otherwise, it gives the greatest shine I've seen. Problem is, these are ordinarily only available through body shops. But damn, they do a great job.
I would be careful with a straight detail spray on road grime as you might cause some marring. In your situation, I would usually give it a quick rinseless wash with either the Optimum No Rinse or Protectal Quick and Easy Wash. I would dry it with a nice waffle weave microfiber (I use the Pak Shak big blue). If you really don't think you have picked up much grime and go at it very carefully, Poorboy's Spray and Wipe detailer/waterless wash would also work well. This will lift the dirt and grime a bit more than astandard detailer and reduce your chances of marring the finish.
Like was said earlier, there should be no reason to re-wax upon arrival at the show.

if you are putting your car in a show i most definately would give it a coat of a good oily carnauba like Souveran.
