Clay Bar / Zaino Process
Hello,
I am a newbie at detailing cars. I have a berlina black MY2000 that I would like to get back to showroom condition. I have purchased the Mother's clay bar system and also have some Zaino (z1 pre-lok and z5 polish).
Here is the process I wanted to use:
Wash car (Mequire's car wash)
Clay panels (using detail spray lubricant included)
Wax car (using Mother's carnauba wax included)
Wash car again (Mequire's car wash)
Apply Zaino Z1
Apply Zaino Z5 Polish
Can I apply Zaino over Mother's wax? What would you do for best results?
Thanks! You guys are the pros!

welcome to the board!
nope- dont do the zaino over mothers...
z1, then z2 (got any?) then z2 then z2 (at least two times, and more is better)...
then the carnauba.
also, dont wash after the z2- or another way is to do the z2 this time and after you wash the car next time then do the wax.
btw, be sure to get pics - if you can get them as you go that would be great. post em up and pm me for a wacko badge....
------
guess i gotta give you the bad news, that i was trying to avoid- clay only gets imbedded particles outta the paint. to get swirls, you gotta polish. and thats a whole nother story (reading in the how tos is the first step here).

Oops, no, don't have Z2. All I have is Z1 and the Z5 (Zaino show car polish - fine scratch remover).
I want to get this done tonight, so I'd rather not place an order for the Z2, rather work with what I have. From your suggestion it would be best to:
Wash the car
Use the Clay Bar and buff it out
Z1 Pre Lok
Z5 Polish
Wash the car again...
Then Carnauba wax
Is this right?

i wouldnt, but yup it is prob o.k.
i would spring for the z2
and z5 is not really a polish- you need a real polish if you wana polish- polish removes everything on the car. (yes, i know that zaino has a bad habit of naming their products polishes- menzerna makes some great polishes and polish is done after clay).
you dont need to wash the car after polishing, unless you have drivin it (my suggestion was to drive it for a week just cause its a lot of work to clay, polish, zaino and wax)

Before applying Zaino you need to strip the old wax off. Zaino recommends Dawn dishwashing liquid for stripping the wax.
