Default Is claying required before a full detail?

I clayed it months ago, and it seems like the paint is still smooth. Is this an important step before a full detail (polish, seal)?

Only if the paint needs it. If when you gently wipe your hand over the paint after a wash and you find that the paint is smooth, then you do not need to clay. You must evaluate the condition of the paint, by sight and touch, and make the determination.

But I admit I clay my S2K every spring as part of the full annual detail, whether she needs it or not.

i would also recommend getting a plastic bag (walmart or something) and run your finger in the bag across the paint... you can really get a feel of the condition of the paint

I've never done this, but my car definitely needs it. Any tips on the process?
