Default Cleaned my Exhaust tips

So this is my first DIY here on S2ki..yes its really obvious but I thought I'd give it a shot for fun. THe goal here was to clean the exhaust tips of my car off. There were looking rather faded / had NEVER been polished.

Here is a finished picture next to a dirty one! YUCK!

You'll need
Eagle one Polish
Dawn Dish soap
10 mm socket and wrench
Que tips
some paper towels.

Here is what they looked like when I started.

The exhaust tips are purely cosmetic on the OEM muffler so they come off with a single bolt (10mm)

First I washed them under hot water with some dawn.

I used a que tip to get into the inner ring. SUPER DIRTY!!

Next I used the Eagle one chrome polish.

Inside there is a wad of what looks like stringy material.

Tear a piece off and polish lengthwise till the tip is nice and coated.

Next wipe clean. I used a microfiber cloth to make sure I didn't scratch up the metal.

All done! Here is a pic of a clean polished tip next to a dirty one. Big difference.

And finally a close up of that once dirty inner ring.

Installation is the reverse of removal!

Goodluck!

I have done this several times. It takes a little bit of time, but worth the time investment.

Nice job with the cleaning and with the write-up.

Careful that stuff can etch metal depending on how it reacts with the buildup on the tips.

I did the same dish soap/Never Dull treatment on mine. That stuff is awesome.

Interesting polish. I used Mother's mag & aluminum polish on mine. It worked well.

Is the wadding polish damp or dry?

I find myself doing this often since I have a testpipe. The buildup sometimes is thick. Nice work!
