Default Cleaning before Shin-Etsu?

Before applying Shin-Etsu lube, do you guys/gals do any special cleaning or prep? Is a rubdown with a damp cloth adequate, or should I use some sort of cleaner?

Thanks,
Mike

Whatever grease you use will most likely be a silicone base, Shin-Etsu included, should in itself act as a cleaner. However, if the seals are particularly dusty or dirty, you may want to wipe them down with warm mild soapy water, dry, then apply the grease. This will use less grease. I use the Silicone Emulsion sold by GM and it is applies with a built in applicator. Once the grease has a few minutes to soak in, I wipe away the excess, done.
