Unhappy Cleaning the soft top - any tips?

Any tips on restoring the soft top? Mine is looking worn and dirty - the car gets washed at least once every two weeks, valet once a month, but the roof is looking old and brown - any tips on getting it looking new?

Had you posted this in the detailing forum you'd see there's a guide already.

welcome to the friendlist board on s2ki!!

its not a wash issue for your top- its a protectant issue.

wash it with your car shampoo and a mild brush. rinse and dry it well.

then the key to getting it new again is the protectant. there are several that you can use, but make sure you get one for vinyl tops.

examples of good stuff are 303 (protectant), vinylex, raggtopp for vinyl.

soak a rag (away from the car) and rub it into the top. lotsa product and do the whole top. let it sit on the top (i do the rest of the car at this point). then rub it down with a clean micro fiber rag. sometimes i let it sit again and rub it one more time.

you should have a new top at that point.

let us know how it goes or if you have any more questions- we are here to help you!!

btw, we have a "how tos" thread at the top of our board...
this is our how to maintain the top thread:
